Who’s there?
Damaged piston.
Damaged piston who?
Damaged piston from an engine Honda stopped making spares for in the early 2000s
Time to scour ebay I suppose...

an ‘85 Honda NB50

Good god! Did someone use that as a boat anchor?

I’ve got an ‘86 Mercury Mariner outboard (built by Yamaha) I’m terrified of pulling apart for a rebuild because there is no way I could find parts for it anymore.

That trackpad configuration... _

The second link has me extremely suspect, there is no piston that works in an 84 and 85, fundamentally different engines.

I’ve never even used it, I’m all about ‘dat mouse lyfe

Can you contact Mahle or Ross and have them make one for you?

What I’ve done historically is set up an IFTTT recipie that looks for the parts I need. This isn’t necessarily the quickest though (took me 6 months to find a piston ring kit for this bike)

Lenovo Thinkpad...redundant buttons for people who like to use the Pad or the Clit. Don't use that term out loud, just call it the Thinkpad.
![]() 06/09/2016 at 16:34 |

Oh I’m sure I could, but for that price I’d just look at buying an untitled basket case off craigslist and strip the parts I need.

yeah, though aside from the reed valves which I think are a little worn, I think the motor is actually in pretty amazing condition so that’s the other reason...I dare not tear into it for rear of nope being able to find gasket 64-29583 or some such thing.

Doesn't the Civic have like two, maybe three of these? Maybe you can find a spare.
![]() 06/09/2016 at 16:36 |

If the civic had a 200 cc 2 stroke inline 4 I’d stand a chance.

As a rule, I don’t tear down anything more than 15 years out of production without absolutely needing to. In this case she blew 90psi on a compression check...

I should check for compression on mine. or maybe I shouldn’t

Would someone like Wiseco make a piston for it?
![]() 06/09/2016 at 16:43 |

My neighbor's '97 model sure sounds like it :D

They might, need to take some measurements and see if I can fine an equivalent. A custom, however, is beyond the financial scope of this project (the scooter cost me $100)

If it runs good, meh
I was having trouble getting above 20mph on steep uphills where she used to do 30-35.

oh is this for the spree? I was thinking of someone else that was given an XR200. I get everyone mixed up nowadays.
![]() 06/09/2016 at 16:49 |

its never run “good” though thats likely an effect of running at 6000 feet.

You know, they kinda can sound that way now that I think of it!
![]() 06/09/2016 at 16:50 |

It’s for an Aero, same as the spree but better in every way :)

Ahh yes, the wonders of carburetors...

LS swap.
![]() 06/09/2016 at 17:03 |

I know Wiseco makes a piston to fit an ‘86 Gyro...
![]() 06/09/2016 at 17:07 |
|
ooo, same bore and stroke, that looks promising
![]() 06/09/2016 at 17:11 |
|
Oh please, if I was going to engine swap I’d put in an engine made for men.
![]() 06/09/2016 at 17:11 |

I was given an XR200, plenty of pistons available for those as that engine was used from the 80's through the 90's and shared a top end with multiple ATV’s, ATC’s and motorcycles.

Yes you are the one I was initially thinking of.
